Yes, it’s a guitar. You can see Andy Summers playing one in the Police’s Synchronicity video. There is also a video of Kenny Loggins playing one of these. Allen Gittler made 60 guitars in NYC and 300 more after he moved to Israel. He passed away in 2002. There is one at the Museum of Modern Art and other museums. Today they are made in NYC again. These are expensive and made to order now by Gittler Instruments LLC.

This has volume and active treble and bass controls. Each string has its own pickup so it can be used to drive a guitar synth. This one has many options including the snap on plastic neck back ($400 option) and a carbon fiber case, power pack with MIDI light up position markers. You can use a regular 1/4” plug or hook up a midi cord and use the output jack on the power adapter.

These are art, yet quite brilliant in design. You can use any string, the ball end goes through the nut. These is an integrated balancing arm plus a screw on tripod that pushes the guitar away from the body. It offers superb midi tracking compatible with Roland or other MIDI interfaced units.

Or…hang it in the office as art that comes off the wall to play and impress. The light up position markers make it easy to read. It’s made of pure grade 23 titanium and is light and durable. Consigned.
