1971 Martin 000-18

Natural, rebuilt sides. What happens when Grandpa sits on your precious 000-18? Well first you bring the old guy back into the retirement home with no dessert. Then you call someone like Willie’s Guitars to fix it.
We originally were fixing this for the customer. But, after regluing the broken sides became impossible, the customer sold it to us. Honestly, it’s been in the shop so long we almost forgot about it. But now over a year later it’s back with highly professionally done new Honduran Mahogany sides sanded to the proper thickness. Our luthier used the same braces, same linings and center brace with the original Martin factory stamp. Oh, he also reset the neck with a tall saddle and Brazilian Rosewood bridge.
The tone is just what you’d buy a 50 year old guitar for with crisp long sustaining notes. The condition is good but it does show lots of pick wear and finish checking. It has the original nut and frets with only light playing wear. Other features include a 1 11/16” nut width and a mahogany neck with a slight V profile. Also has 5 layers of top binding and a single layer back binding on back. The back has been off and then rebound. The sides are book matched and we feel 80% of buyers would never know they were replaced. It was played and it sounds all the better because of it. The lacquer on the top is aged to an almost pumpkin color.
What a great stage guitar! You can add a pickup and not feel bad. Yes, this is it with a loud clear and easy to record voice. More comfortable to play then a Dreadnaught for most. Comes with a very cool original early 70’s hard case.
