1917 Gibson H-1 Mandola
$2,900.00In stock
Natural, EX, clean condition. Think of the mandola as the viola and the mandolin as a violin. Tuned lower to a C with a longer scale and larger body. The chord shapings are the same. The H-1 has the same appointments as an A-2 mandolin except with a treble side fingerboard extension. One glance and you know. Look Ma my Mandola!
Has a bound oval sound hole, original raised pickguard and bound ebony fingerboard with large pearl dot inlays. Also has“The Gibson” pearl logo and an invoroid bound top, original bridge, tailpiece and tuners. The top is hand carved Adirondack arched top. The back and sides are carved maple. The neck is Honduran Mahogany. It’s freshly set up and adjusted. Sounds great with a rich deep sustaining tone. It’s a really wonderful example and rather rare find. Comes with a nice original hard case.
