1952 Gibson Les Paul “Prototype”

Goldtop, one of the earliest examples of this American icon with no neck binding and off set pickup mounting screws on the bridge pickup. At first glance you go…What? But wait there’s more. The early tall knobs, and it has no poker chip (plastic ring around the pickup selector). The neck is huge yet comfortable with a pronounced V contour. Also the sharp edge on the back of the body and of course no serial number. As in, this solid body guitar craze can’t last, why put a serial number on it?

Shown with an improved bridge and newer tuners but the originals are in the case.

For what its worth it sounds great and is a very hard to find model. It’s hard to even find photos of this era that is one of the first dozen or so examples of Gibsons first ever solid body guitar. A model that is now an icon of American industrial design.

This has the original finish and is crack free. Comes with an original rare flat top brown hard case. Crazy cool. Fedex Express shipping only as this is a unbroken historic example.
